Issue 102 · meaning before glyph

One semantic name, one shape, and a visible boundary.

Hara symbols identify navigation, commands, state, runtime capabilities, products and evidence. They stay monochrome by default, inherit current colour, and keep unfamiliar, destructive, capability and authority meaning supported by ordinary text.

01 · Geometry

Compact symbols are drawn for compact use.

The public contract supports 16, 20, 24 and 32 pixel optical sizes. Stroke weight changes slightly at each size while the shared 24 × 24 geometry, rounded joins and currentColor delivery remain stable.

One meaning across four optical sizes

16px 20px 24px 32px

Large illustrations should compose symbols with labels and evidence rather than stretching a compact control glyph into a product logo.

02 · Semantic inventory

Each symbol has one recorded semantic role.

Every symbol has a stable family-prefixed identifier, label, usage boundary, and text rule. Select a specimen to inspect its public metadata; the application still decides whether a command, capability, or state exists.

Navigation and location

Movement, search, hierarchy and external destinations. Familiar navigation symbols may be icon-only when the control has an accessible name.

8 symbols

Actions

Immediate commands and explicit mutations. Unfamiliar and destructive actions retain visible text; icon-only controls still require an accessible name.

14 symbols

State

Runtime, evidence and lifecycle states expressed with words and non-colour cues. State symbols always accompany a visible state label.

14 symbols

Runtime capabilities

Host and provider capabilities available to a running Hara environment. Capability symbols remain text-supported because availability and authority are product facts.

13 symbols

Products

Labelled Hara product marks for navigation and adoption guidance. Product symbols never replace the product name.

8 symbols

Authority and evidence

Source, revision, registry, observation, receipt and accountable ownership. Evidence symbols remain adjacent to exact authority and revision text.

03 · Route compositions

Symbols accompany route labels and state; they do not replace them.

These compositions use realistic Hara actions, capabilities, states, products and evidence. The visible words remain authoritative for the reader, while products continue to own commands, permissions, lifecycle, data and moderation.

Playground runtime controls

commands ≠ state
Ready Filesystem connecting Network unavailable

Buttons express requested commands. Status records express actual fenced runtime state.

Capability pane

provider authority
Session Filesystem Canvas Audio 3D External provider

The glyph identifies the capability class. The host and evidence fence determine availability.

Specs and Packages lifecycle

text-supported consequence
Deprecated Superseded by 0.9.0 Partial compatibility

Destructive and publication actions keep visible labels, consequence and authority context.

Products and accountable identity

Product and ownership symbols are never unexplained standalone pictograms.

The symbol points to a class of evidence; exact source, revision, session and receipt text carries the fact.

Missing and incomparable evidence

not zero · not failure
Sample count missing Different methodology Observation stale 3 of 5 targets

Evidence gaps remain explicit and cannot collapse into successful zero values or generic errors.

04 · Accessible inventory

The table is the complete non-visual contract.

Decorative SVGs are hidden when adjacent text already carries meaning. Informative standalone symbols receive a concise label. Icon-only controls put the accessible name on the button or link, not on competing nested elements.

05 · Adoption

Pin the merged contract; keep product meaning downstream.

A downstream adoption uses public identifiers, preserves visible text and accessibility, and pins a merged Visual Language revision. It does not copy SVG paths, redefine protected tokens, or transfer command, capability, lifecycle, ownership or evidence authority into this package.

Shared package owns
